Condor personal item size 2026: the new 40 x 30 x 15 cm rule from 1 May

· Shopify API· 6 最小読み取り

Short answer: a Condor personal item must fit within 40 × 30 × 15 cm (the strictest axis is depth at 15 cm). The Jelkin 25 measures 25 × 17 × 14 cm on the outside, so it clears the depth limit by 1 cm and qualifies as a free under-seat bag.

Condor changed its baggage rules on 1 May 2026. The small personal item included in every fare went from 40 x 30 x 10 cm to 40 x 30 x 15 cm, and standard carry-on went from 55 x 40 x 20 cm to 55 x 40 x 23 cm. Both now follow the same standard Lufthansa publishes, which is the point of the change: Condor is aligning its rules with international practice and making them route-independent.

If you last flew Condor before May 2026, the bag you were allowed then was smaller than the one you are allowed now.

What changed, and when

Until 30 April 2026 From 1 May 2026
Personal item 40 x 30 x 10 cm 40 x 30 x 15 cm
Carry-on baggage 55 x 40 x 20 cm 55 x 40 x 23 cm
Rules by route varied by destination uniform across the network

A second change lands on 1 May 2027, and it concerns checked baggage rather than the cabin: Economy moves to one piece of 23 kg instead of 20 kg, Premium Economy to 32 kg instead of 25 kg, and Business to two pieces of 32 kg each instead of 30 kg. None of that affects what you carry on board.

On the Business pages Condor additionally names a weight limit of 6 kg for the personal item from May 2026. Cabin baggage in Business is listed at 16 kg total across two pieces.

Why the extra 5 cm of depth changes the shortlist

Ten centimetres of depth is the constraint that quietly disqualifies most small handbags. Fifteen does not. The difference between the old and the new rule is not a rounding adjustment: it moves the personal item from "a flat document sleeve" to "an actual small bag", and it means a structured 25 cm bag now sits inside the allowance with room on every axis rather than being borderline on one.

Where a 25 cm bag sits in the new allowance

A structured bag at 25 x 17 x 14 cm is inside 40 x 30 x 15 cm on all three measurements, with the depth being the closest at 14 against 15. It goes under the seat in front, and it does so without being compressed — which matters for a bag with stiffened panels, because forcing it into a sizer is how a structured bag gets damaged.

At 600 g empty it is also far from any weight concern. The 6 kg figure Condor lists for the personal item in Business is roughly ten times the bag's own weight, so the limit is not what you will hit first.

What to check before you fly

  • Your fare: the personal item is included in every fare, but the larger carry-on piece is not included in every fare.
  • Whether your flight is operated by a partner airline — in that case the operating carrier's rules apply at the gate.
  • That anything you carry to the gate counts as cabin baggage, including coats and duty-free bags, even where they are not counted as a separate piece.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Condor personal item now 40 x 30 x 15 cm?

From 1 May 2026, yes — Condor announced the increase from 40 x 30 x 10 cm as part of a wider baggage revision. Older comparison tables still show 10 cm.

Did the carry-on size change too?

Yes, from 55 x 40 x 20 cm to 55 x 40 x 23 cm, also from 1 May 2026.

Is there a weight limit for the personal item?

Condor's Business pages list max. 6 kg for the personal item from May 2026. For other fares, check the current fare description — the airline publishes weight per fare rather than a single cabin rule.

Does a 25 cm bag count as a personal item or as carry-on?

As the personal item. It is well inside 40 x 30 x 15 cm and belongs under the seat in front of you.

Check it against the others: the airline personal item size checker puts this allowance next to 18 other carriers and tells you whether a 25 × 17 × 14 cm bag passes.

Same region, different rule

Condor now matches the Lufthansa Group carriers on depth but differs on weight and on when the rule starts. The three siblings below are the ones most likely to appear on the same trip.

Not sure how these allowances are written in the first place? The rules explained covers why the same bag is free on one carrier and a paid extra on another. The bag measured throughout this page is the Jelkin 25, 25 × 17 × 14 cm on the outside.

Questions people ask

What is Condor's personal item size?

40 × 30 × 15 cm, and it must go under the seat in front of you. It is free in addition to the cabin bag on most fares, as long as it fits the sizer.

Does a 25 × 17 × 14 cm bag fit Condor?

Yes. At 14 cm deep it sits 1 cm inside Condor's 15 cm depth cap, and it is shorter and narrower than the other two axes as well, so it drops into the sizer with room to spare.

Does the limit include handles and wheels?

Yes. Where Condor publishes a personal-item size, the figure is the outside of the bag including handles, wheels and any fixed straps.
