Does a long wallet fit in a 25 cm bag? A size table by wallet type

· Shopify API· 4 Min. Lesezeit

Yes, a long wallet fits in a 25 cm bag. The more useful answer is what it costs you: a standard long wallet takes up more than half the floor area of the bag, and that is the trade people do not see until they get home.

Here is the arithmetic, then the table.

The interior you actually get from 25 x 17 x 14 cm

Those numbers are measured at the fullest points of the outside. The usable inside is smaller for three reasons: the outer fabric and lining take a few millimetres on each face, the stiffened panels that hold the shape take more, and the turn-lock hardware eats into one end.

Working through that gives roughly 23 x 15 x 12 cm of usable interior — about 4.1 litres. That is the number to compare against, not the 25 on the product page.

Long, bifold and mini wallets: typical sizes and what they use up

These are common retail sizes, not standards: individual wallets vary, and a fat leather long wallet stuffed with receipts will be bigger than a slim one. Treat them as a starting point and measure your own wallet before you decide.

Wallet type Typical closed size Floor area used Share of the bag floor
Long wallet (長財布) 19.5 x 9.5 x 2.5 cm 185 cm² about 54%
Round-zip long wallet 19 x 10 x 2.5 cm 190 cm² about 55%
Bifold (二つ折り) 11 x 9 x 2.5 cm 99 cm² about 29%
Trifold (三つ折り) 9 x 7 x 3 cm 63 cm² about 18%
Mini wallet / coin purse 10 x 7 x 2 cm 70 cm² about 20%

The bag floor is about 345 cm² (23 x 15). A long wallet uses 185 cm² of that. So the wallet goes in easily — and then slightly more than half the floor is gone before anything else is added.

What still fits once the wallet is in

With a long wallet lying flat, what is left is a strip roughly 3.5 cm along one side and 5.5 cm along the other, plus the full 12 cm of height. In practice that means:

  • Phone, keys, lip balm and a small card case: all fine, they stack on top or sit alongside.
  • A glasses case or a small make-up pouch: possible, but now the bag is full to the top.
  • A 350 ml bottle standing up: no. It needs about 7 cm of diameter and 20 cm of height, and the height is the problem even where the floor area works.
  • Sunglasses in a hard case: usually no, for the same reason.

Switch to a bifold and the picture changes completely — 29% instead of 54% leaves room for a pouch and a small bottle laid on its side.

When a long wallet is the wrong choice

A long wallet is the right answer if you carry cash, receipts and a lot of cards and you are not trying to fit anything else bulky. It is the wrong answer if you also want a water bottle, a glasses case or a separate pouch in the same bag — at that point the wallet is not fitting in the bag, it is competing with everything else for the same floor.

The other thing worth checking is height. A 25 cm bag has about 12 cm of usable depth, so a long wallet standing on its edge is fine, but a round-zip wallet that has been over-stuffed can push past the top of the panel and stop the turn-lock closing cleanly.

Frequently asked questions

Will a 20 cm long wallet fit?

Yes — the interior length is about 23 cm, so there is roughly 3 cm to spare. It is the width and the stacking on top that run out first.

Can I stand the wallet upright instead?

You can, and it frees floor area, but an upright wallet is harder to reach and tends to slump. Lying flat against the back panel is usually the better use of the space.

Is a mini wallet the obvious winner?

On space, yes. On use, not always — mini wallets mean folding notes and carrying fewer cards. Plenty of people try one, then go back to a bifold as the middle option.

How much does the wallet matter compared with the bag?

More than most people expect. Going from a long wallet to a bifold frees about 25% of the bag floor, which is roughly the same difference as buying a bag 3 cm wider.
